To preface this , I adored the movie but wanted to provide feedback only based around what I felt it was lacking . I wish they had less characters in this so we could have equal screen time to get to know them one by one like we did with the OG cast . I wish this wouldn’t open up to more movies but instead a revival of the old show that was able to give time to get to know the characters to feel something when the character dies so you could feel more other then the pain that character was feeling . Liv was one of the characters that I felt had trauma they were building up that could have revealed her as the killer but instead it was more of a red herring which I didn’t hate but made me want to know more about her and the relationship to the Meeks and to Vince . I just wanted to know more about these characters but there were way too many that just didn’t have enough time to care for them . I hope if we continue we get to know more about the Meeks I honestly wouldn’t hate to see them be killers in the future .
So to wrap it all up the movie was wonderful and I hope we get this new generation of characters to actually get to really know them going forward .

I actually felt the characters were more developed overall than Scream 4 and I agree just a little bit too many new characters to get to know well enough, however I still cared for them enough to feel a bit for them as they were slaughtered.

From all the Scream movies they had so any new characters and it seemed they didn't last long in the movies that much

I think the slow burn slasher is a thing of the past, at least where theatrical release is concerned. People are not going to the movies anymore. When they do, it's to go see a spectacle: huge super hero movies with little plot, high action, and a multitude of "multi-verse" characters all thrown together.
For the slasher genre to succeed, it will have to thrive in streaming or podcast form.
Scream 5 lacked a chase scene. Chase scenes are the natural cumulation of a slow burning plot. It's a crescendo point made possible through a developed character's turning point. The final girl picks up the sword after running and slowly working up the cunning to defeat the killer. This type of thread needs to be nurtured and is highly prone to collapsing under the weight of the new theatrical model.

The Scream movies, juxtaposed with the other franchises, are a visual clarity as it were. The Halloween franchise, is a clusterfuck of sorts, what with the endless rebooting.
